Emergency Services Collaboration Working Group
David Lloyd has today released the following statement about the setting up of a national 'Blue Light' Working Group:

I am delighted to announce on behalf of the Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, emergency service partners and the Local Government Association, the establishment of a national Emergency Services Collaboration Working Group.

The group consists of representatives from the Association of Chief Police Officers, Chief Fire Officers Association, Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, Association of Police and Crime Commissioners, the College of Policing and the Local Government Association.

The work of the group will build on the statement of commitment to collaboration made in February by the Association of Chief Police Officers, Chief Fire Officers Association and Association of Ambulance Chief Executives and act as driver for innovation and best practice.

The newly formed group has received ministerial backing from the Home Office, Department of Communities and Local Government and the Department of Health which includes a commitment of joint funding. The funding will act to support the emergency services in promoting successful local projects and encouraging the roll out of similar projects across the country.

Taking a truly collaborative approach, the group will provide a regular forum for joint discussion and communication on the opportunities and challenges; facilitate and encourage greater collaboration between emergency services; oversee the overall programme of work to establish a network and commission research and provide ministers, PCCs and interested parties with progress updates.

The establishment of a national Emergency Services Collaboration Group ensures a coordinated and truly collaborative approach is taken which not only makes financial sense but will help deliver better and more efficient emergency service provision.
